iOS 18.2 finally brings AI smarts to the iPhone in the UK, but is yours compatible?

 Whether you’re sporting a new iPhone 16 or you’ve stuck with your current model, today a number of Apple devices can upgrade to the tech giant’s latest iOS 18.2, giving users in the UK the first taste of Apple Intelligence. But who can get Apple’s fancy new iOS 18.2 AI features, and who will miss out?

Apple released iOS 18.2 on December 11, 2024, with several new features, including Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence is supported on iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later, and Mac with M1 and later.

In Apple Intelligence, users in the UK can download the feature by updating to iOS 18.2 and setting their device and Siri language to localized English for the UK. 

For users in the European Union, features of Apple Intelligence are to become available on the iPhone and iPad in April 2025.

Even if your device doesn't make it to the cut for Apple Intelligence, there will still be iOS 18.2, bringing general availability for call recording with transcription, improvements to Control Center, and new AirPods hearing health features.
